The Forest pool team has bowed out of the League Cup but not before making life difficult for newly-crowned league champions Middlesbrough.
Captain Steve Moon says: “Although Boro were overall worth the win, the 3-6 scoreline does not really do our overall performance justice because although one of the singles went fortuitously in our favour, that same fortune deserted us in two or three of the other six singles.
“At 4-2 down at the turnaround, we could still have won with victory in all three pairs. But the ‘Boro pair breaking off and pocketing three striped balls effectively put paid to that and both the other pairs were shared.”
The team – in singles playing order – was Ian Davey, Jon Hogg, Matt Stephens, Steve Moon, Jon Ball and 16-year-old Daniel Ball who had two great wins and looks a great prospect for the future.
Steve adds: We are very confident of doing well in the league next season if we are able to field a settled side.”
Unlucky guys and well played.
