LONDON TRICKIES would like to pay tribute to the courage of one our own – Stephen Crean.
We were all shocked to learn on Saturday night that Steve was in hospital with knife wounds suffered while travelling back from Forest’s game with Manchester United.
But the bravery he showed in putting himself between the attacker and other passengers to prevent others from suffering serious injury or even worse on that LNER train was truly heroic.
As a result, he is currently recovering from wounds to his head, back and hands.
Here is a link to the interview Steve did with LBC’s Nick Ferrari describing the ordeal.
The humility and selflessness he has shown in the many interviews he has given this week are characteristics those of us who know him have seen many times.
We are all in awe of his bravery. The world is a safer place thanks to people like Steve.
What the wider public also may not be aware of is his incredible devotion to NFFC. Over many years he has undertaken some of the most difficult journeys at the most unsociable times – spending many hours on trains and buses to some of the furthest outposts.
We know Steve will be gutted not to be able to make the trip to Graz this week – obviously his recovery must come first.
But we hope that the love of the wider Forest community – and beyond – has helped to lift his morale at the difficult time.
Nottingham Forest and our owner Evangelos Marinakis immediately wanted to know how they could help while a JustGiving page set up by Nicholas Dobney will hopefully provide some much-needed support at this difficult time.
Steve… you’re a true Forest hero.
