For the first time ever, the London Trickies pool team have won some silverware after a magnificent comeback to beat Newcastle.
It was a match worthy of a final. Newcastle gained an early upper hand taking three of the first four singles but Forest fought back to level at the break and then took all three pairings to win 6-3.
Pool captain and branch chairman Steve Moon said: “I’m really proud of our guys who have shown the never say die spirit throughout the whole cup competition and tonight got their just rewards.
“Hopefully we will get the cup at the League AGM in two weeks time.
“Many thanks to Newcastle for a sporting encounter played in the right spirit and to the staff at the Southwark Brewery for the pizzas and for accommodating us as they always do.”
Now it’s up to Forest this Saturday to make sure that victory isn’t the only one over Newcastle this week … while the branch darts team have their final next Monday.
Meanwhile, the new pool league season starts next month and we would welcome one or two new faces to build up squad numbers.
We, along with most of the other teams, play at the Southwark Brewery in Druid Street (near Tower and London Bridges south side) and there are 10 clubs in the League playing each other once so nine games to play.
Any interested pool players please let me know. It’s an APFSCIL competition so you will play other London Supporters Clubs of Provincial clubs.
Steve adds: “It’s a friendly run league and you don’t have to be a world beater or hustler, just someone who enjoys a game is sufficient. The only financial outlay may be contributing to pizza on our home games.”
